I should be up front with the knowledge that I really do not like Ken Livingstone. Neither the man, nor his politics. However, I also believe in giving credit where it's due.
The speech that he gave on his way back to London whilst returning from his succesful bid to host the Olympic games in 2012 captured the right tone of the sad events that followed.
All I ask is that you enjoy the speech for its authenticity and save any further criticisms for another day. The speech in full can be read below the fold.

Okay so I'm back after a short hiatus. And you know what, I'm a touch annoyed. Yesterday 4 terrorist bombs went off in my town, with the current death toll set at 37 with over 700 injuries and counting.
But you know what? Whatever you're peddling, we ain't buying. The city of London has seen it all before. You aren't original, you aren't scary and you sure as hell aren't going to change us.

Yet another posting on another website got me thinking.
The actual quote was "What annoys me the most is the widespread assumption that no guns would somehow equal less gun crime. And clearly that isn't the case (hell, look at the UK)."
Now as many problems as we have in the UK, I wouldn't describe gun crime as one of them (probably due to me living out in a fairly middle class 'burb).

Two independent teams of scientists have performed the first successful teleportation on atoms (as reported by the bbc and wired).
Far from the teleportation as depicted by science fiction shows such as Star Trek, this could be a part of the next step in supercomputing. Using this technology could allow computers to handle far bigger, more complex loads at a rate many times faster than currently possible.
