- Sir Winston Churchill

What better way to begin with than a quote from one of the greatest ever statesmen? This was spoken at a time when Britain had endured its darkest hour, but was still deep within its efforts to oppose the forces of the Axis.

The quote itself should properly be attributed to Sir Harry Lauder, as it was from his song that Sir Winston borrowed the phrase. However, Sir Winston used it to great effect as the closing line in his speech when accepting the freedom of the city of Edinburgh in October, 1942.
